Questions you should ask when searching for a staffing service to help you with your employment needs.

Record of Service: How long has the service been in business? Can they supply client references and if so, what do their clients have to say about the service they have received?

Screening: How does the company test and evaluate prospective field employees? Do they prescreen applicants prior to interviewing? Do they use a reputable testing company to assist with evaluations?

Cycle Time: On average, what is the length of time between when an order is placed and when it is filled with a qualified field employee? Does your company routinely have last minute needs?

Quality: Does the company have established best practices that are followed by its staff? How do they track the quality of their placements? Do they follow-up with their clients and field employees after the job need has been satisfied?

Critical Mass: How many locations does the service have? Do they have enough of a recruitment presence in your area to meet your needs? Do they have a dedicated recruitment division?

Defect Ratio: What percentage of filled assignments end prematurely due to quality issues? What steps do they take to increase employee retention (e.g. field employee benefits) and reduce turnover.

Qualified Staff: What are the qualifications the company uses for hiring its internal staff? When you speak with your staffing service representative, do you feel that they truly understand your needs? Are they knowledgeable and experienced in the staffing industry?

Services Offered: Do they offer a variety of services or will you need to deal with multiple companies to satisfy your staffing needs? What areas do they specialize in?

Service Guarantees: If you are not satisfied with the performance of an employee placed at your organization, what happens? Do they offer any guarantees of quality service?

Insurance: Do they have the proper insurance coverage to protect you in case issues arise as a result of your staffing needs? What steps do they take to reduce workers compensation claims and costs?
