Metal Generalist

CoWorx Staffing Services is seeking Metal Generalist candidates in the Biddeford, ME area. This role involves material handling, machine support, basic maintenance, and general shop assistance. Ideal candidates are safety-focused, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities:

Perform shake-out and deburring of materials, drilling/tapping, hardware insertion, and general material handling. Ensure all safety devices and machine guards are properly installed and functioning. Complete daily maintenance and safety checks on equipment. Maintain preventive maintenance logs on a daily/weekly schedule per manufacturer guidelines. Safely operate drill presses, hardware inserters, and handheld grinding tools. [liNotify supervisor of maintenance needs or repairs requiring outside service. Report issues and recommend improvements to increase workflow efficiency. Assist team members in various phases of the fabrication process as needed. Keep work area clean, organized, and free of hazards to prevent slips, trips, and falls. Assist with general shop cleanup when requested. Follow safe pallet stacking and weight-capacity guidelines. Perform additional duties as assigned to support overall production goals.

Desired Background/Skills:

Previous experience in metal fabrication, manufacturing, or general labor preferred. Basic mechanical aptitude and comfort using hand and power tools. Ability to read and follow work instructions, safety procedures, and maintenance guidelines. Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work. Ability to lift, move, and handle materials safely throughout the shift. Reliable attendance and strong work ethic. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Willingness to learn new processes and assist in multiple areas of the shop.
