Machinist/Grinder

CoWorx Staffing in conjunction with a national manufacturer of Technical Ceramics is currently looking for Machinist / Grinder in the Fairfield, NJ area. The ideal candidate Machinist/Grinder will have 5 – 10 years’ experience on surface grinders, rotary grinders, centerless grinders and/or ID/OD grinders. Must possess manual dexterity and an eye for detail.

Responsibilities:

• Follow all safety procedures and guidelines.
• Review drawings or instructions to understand output specifications.
• Plan the sequence of actions required to complete each job.
• Select appropriate machines, such as surface grinders, and position or load materials for production.
• Determine appropriate speed and feed rates.
• Operate multiple grinding machines simultaneously.
• Monitor machines during operation, adjusting feed, maintaining temperature, and identifying issues.
• Inspect output to ensure consistency within specifications.
• Maintain records of approved and defective units.
• Perform routine machine maintenance.

Desired Background/Skills:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Five years of experience working with close tolerances on grinding equipment.
• Proven experience as a machinist.
• Ability to set up and troubleshoot machine tools.
• Experience using and setting manual, semi-automated, or automated tools and machines, including lathes and grinders.
• Ability to use precision tools such as micrometers and indicators to take accurate measurements.
• Knowledge of the properties of ceramic materials is a plus.
• Ability to read blueprints.

Other Information:

Temp-to-Hire position
1st shift
Pay based on Experience $25 to $32 per hour
Once become perm candidate would be eligible for:
$1,500 SIGN-ON BONUS ($500 after 30 days with a good review; $1,000 after 90 days with a good review)
10 PAID HOLIDAYS PER YEAR
SAFETY SHOES AND GLASSES REIMBURSEMENT
2 WEEKS Vacation starts accruing on hire date
