Assembly Operator

Job Description:

Location: North Attleboro, Massachusetts

CoWorx is seeking Assembly Operators in the North Attleboro, MA area!
Summary: Build, terminate, test, and inspect wire, cable, and harness assemblies to engineering drawings, work instructions, and quality standards (e.g., IPC/WHMA-A-620).

Responsibilities:

  • Read and interpret drawings, BOMs, schematics, and work orders.
  • Cut, strip, crimp, solder, and terminate wires/cables; apply heat shrink and labeling.
  • Perform continuity, insulation resistance, and hipot testing; document results.
  • Use microscopes/magnifiers to inspect crimps, solder joints, and terminations.
  • Maintain lot traceability, travelers, and shop-floor data in MES/ERP.
  • Support first-article builds and engineering changes (ECOs).
  • Wire cutters, precision strippers (manual/programmable), cable jacket strippers.
  • Crimp tools (manual, pneumatic, hydraulic), applicators, crimp height gauges, pull testers.
  • Soldering stations, preheaters, hot-air tools, thermal strippers.
  • Heat guns, heat-shrink ovens/tunnels, braid and shielding tools.
  • Pin insertion/extraction tools, ferrule and terminal crimpers.
  • Continuity testers, multimeters, hipot testers, insulation resistance testers.
  • Label printers, heat-shrink markers, laser wire markers (as applicable).
  • Wire prep: cut-to-length, strip, tinning.
  • Termination: open/closed barrel crimp, solder cup, IDC, ferrules, coax/RF connectors.
  • Harness build: routing, looming, lacing, tie-wrapping, heat-shrink, strain relief.
  • Shield termination: pigtail, 360-degree band clamp, backshell assembly.
  • Electrical test: continuity, shorts, IR, hipot; functional testing per procedure.
  • Inspection: in-process, final, first article per IPC criteria.

Desired Background/Skills:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical/vocational training preferred.
  • 1–3 years in wire/cable/harness assembly or related electronics/mechanical assembly.
  • Ability to read schematics, pinouts, and wiring diagrams; use color codes and gauge charts.
  • Proficient with hand tools and basic soldering; familiarity with IPC/WHMA-A-620.
  • Basic computer skills for work instructions, travelers, and test data entry.
