Test Boat Operator

CoWorx Staffing Services is hiring a Boat Operator for our client’s world-class engine testing facility near Chattanooga, TN in Bridgeport, AL. Come be a part of the engine testing team! Your primary role will be driving a wide assortment of high-end boats out in open water on the Tennessee river!
The test boat operator works closely with engineers or technicians to drive boats in a safe, specified manner, and record and communicate observations. When not on the water, you’ll be assisting the engineers or technicians in the shop or maintaining the boats, facility, or grounds.

Responsibilities:

• Safely operate boats according to established test cycles in open water environments, including varying weather and sea conditions.
• Monitor engine performance and identify signs of improper operation or mechanical concerns during testing activities.
• Accurately document boat and engine observations in company databases and testing systems.
• Communicate engine performance observations and testing results effectively with technicians and team members.
• Work collaboratively with a diverse team while maintaining a positive, professional, and helpful attitude.
• Assist technicians with boat and engine test preparation activities.
• Support trailering, launching, retrieving, and fueling of test boats.
• Assist with cleaning, maintenance, and minor repairs of boats, facilities, and grounds.
• Perform additional duties and support operational needs as assigned by management.

Desired Background/Skills:

• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record required.
• Ability to pass and maintain required drug screening requirements.
• Strong commitment to safety with a proactive and safety-focused approach to work.
• Demonstrated ability to safely operate boats at relatively high speeds for extended periods, including in challenging weather and water conditions.
• Basic understanding of outboard engine operation, functionality, and performance characteristics.
• High level of alertness, situational awareness, and vessel control required.
• Proficiency with basic computer applications for documenting observations, test results, and operational data.
