Job Description:

Location: Foothill Ranch, California

CoWorx Staffing Services is hiring an Early-Stage Collector for our client located in Foothill Ranch, CA.
Salary: $21.00-$27.00hr based on experience and qualifications.

Responsibilities:

  • Contact customers via phone, email, text, and other approved communication channels regarding early-stage delinquent accounts.
  • Build positive customer relationships by providing empathetic, solution-focused support.
  • Negotiate payment arrangements and discuss hardship assistance options to help customers maintain current account status.
  • Research account activity, payment history, and balances to resolve customer inquiries accurately and efficiently.
  • Identify and escalate specialized issues, including fraud, bankruptcy, insurance claims, and title-related matters.
  • Accurately document customer interactions, payment arrangements, and account updates within the Loan Management System (LMS).
  • Perform basic skip tracing activities to locate customers and assets when necessary.
  • Handle customer complaints professionally and escalate concerns through appropriate channels when required.
  • Collaborate with Customer Service, Titles, and other internal departments to support account resolution efforts.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, company policies, and industry standards.
  • Participate in special projects, process improvement initiatives, and other duties as assigned.

Desired Background/Skills:

  • Associate’s degree in Finance, Business, or a related field preferred; equivalent work experience will be considered.
  • Minimum of 3 years of early-stage collections experience within the automotive, powersports, or consumer finance industry required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a strong focus on empathy, emotional intelligence, and active listening.
  • Ability to de-escalate difficult conversations while maintaining professionalism and customer trust.
  • Strong negotiation, interpersonal, and attention-to-detail skills.
  • Proven ability to negotiate payment arrangements with tact, respect, and a solution-oriented approach, even in sensitive situations.
  • Highly organized with a commitment to accurate documentation and compliance with company procedures, legal requirements, and regulatory standards.
  • Comfortable using Loan Servicing Systems and CRM platforms; proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook required.
  • Experience with dialer platforms and digital communication tools is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state debt collection laws and regulations, including FDCPA, Rosenthal Act, Regulation F, FCRA, TCPA, GLBA, EFTA, SCRA, UDAAP, and Bankruptcy Code Sections 362 and 524.
