CoWorx Staffing is hiring Quality Mechanical Inspector / CMM Technician in the Tyngboro, MA area!

Position Summary:
The Quality Mechanical Inspector / CMM Technician is responsible for ensuring precision machined components and assemblies meet internal and customer specifications. This role performs first article, in-process, and final inspections using manual measurement tools and Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM). The position partners closely with Quality, Engineering, and Manufacturing teams to support production, resolve quality issues, and drive continuous improvement in a regulated manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities:

Key Responsibilities:

Inspection & Measurement
Perform first article, in-process, and final inspections of precision machined parts and assemblies
Operate and program CMM equipment (e.g., PC-DMIS, Calypso)
Use precision measurement tools including micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, height gauges, indicators, and optical comparators
Inspect incoming materials and components from outside processing
Accurately document inspection results on travelers, inspection reports, and logs
CMM Programming & Technical Support
Create, edit, and optimize CMM programs for new and existing products
Collaborate with Quality Engineers and Manufacturing Engineers to support inspection strategy and program effectiveness
Assist with GR&R / MSA studies and measurement system validation
Troubleshoot measurement issues and support root-cause investigations
Quality & Compliance Support
Interpret and apply GD&T and blueprint requirements
Review engineering drawings, control plans, and customer specifications
Support ISO-based quality systems (ISO 9001, ISO 13485, FDA 820 as applicable)
Contribute to defect reduction, first-pass yield improvement, and continuous improvement initiatives
Safety & Workplace Standards
Follow all safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized inspection area
Maintain inspection equipment and report issues promptly
Promote teamwork, accountability, and quality-first culture

Desired Background/Skills:

Qualifications Required:

High school diploma or GED
2–5+ years of experience in quality inspection and/or CMM programming within a machining or manufacturing environment
Strong understanding of GD&T and blueprint interpretation
Experience using manual inspection tools and CMM equipment
Basic computer skills (Excel, Word; inspection software experience preferred)
Ability to work independently and communicate effectively across teams
Preferred: Experience in medical device, aerospace, or other regulated manufacturing environments
Knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 13485, FDA, GMP, or customer quality standards
ASQ or related quality certification
Experience with data-driven quality improvement tools and advanced metrology
Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and handle materials up to 35–50 lbs
Ability to stand for extended periods while performing inspections
Manual dexterity and visual acuity required for precision measurement
Frequent use of hands, arms, and computer-based inspection equipment
