CoWorx Staffing Services is hiring a full time or part time Indirect Tax Specialist for our client located in the Orange County area. Suggested hours for the position are: Full time: Monday-Friday from 8:30 am- 5 pm with one hour for lunch. Part time: Open to scheduling based on availability. 8:30 am- 12 pm or 1 pm- 5 pm This is a temporary position needed through the end of the year. Reporting to the Tax Manager, the Indirect Tax Accountant will ensure timely and accurate filing of State and Local Sales & Use Tax Returns and tax account reconciliations. The Senior Tax Accountant will identify indirect tax issues and conduct research to support resolution. The role also requires management of exemption certificates, and oversight to State legal registrations, and other indirect tax filings. Communicates with taxing authorities and internal business partners in support of routine indirect tax processes. Essential Job Duties: Prepare monthly State and Local Sales & Use Tax returns, journal entries, and tax account reconciliations Assist in automation improvements Research tax issues, as assigned, and communicate results to Tax Manager Monitor current taxability rules, regulations, and tax rates, creating matrices for Tax Division reference Review exemption certificates from customers and prepare for Company purchases Assist with personal property tax renditions and payments. Assist in audits for sales/use tax, personal property tax, and other indirect tax filings Review and resolve tax notices Potentially provide property tax information to outside firm, process funding for tax assessment payments, and handle related functions. Manage State legal registration filings and compliance with tax and business licenses. Perform other duties as assigned |

Responsibilities: |

Desired Background/Skills: Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance • 4-5 years multistate sales and use tax compliance and or related advisory background • Background in state indirect tax research • Experience working on property tax matters • Strongly prefer hands-on experience using the latest technology tools for efficient processes. • Sales and use tax audit defense experience a plus • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of software applications (Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint) with at least Intermediate level Excel skills, Enterprise Resource Planning (“ERP”) systems (i.e. SAP or Oracle), and Tax Research software (i.e. CheckPoint). Knowledge, Skills & Abilities • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. • Ability to develop and maintain an excellent working relationship with internal corporate business partners, external auditors, and tax authorities. • Ability to be flexible to meet demanding deadlines and time schedules • Strong analytical, problem solving, and multi-tasking skills required Self-starter |
