Location: Thomaston, Connecticut

If you’re interested in the opportunity to join a leading manufacturer in CT in a hands on production role, this is for you! The EHS Specialist reports to an excellent EHS Manager and works closely with site management to ensure new products and programs are compliant with internal policies and procedures that promote Environmental Health and Safety. This role is first shift, Monday to Friday and is onsite in Thomaston, CT.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide administrative support to Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) teams, including filing and tracking documents, preparing reports, and maintaining databases.
  • Communicate with internal and external stakeholders to gather information, coordinate activities, and provide updates as needed.
  • Manage and support all required state and federal environmental, health, and safety reporting activities.
  • Assist with the maintenance and administration of EHS regulatory information management systems.
  • Schedule meetings, prepare agendas, and record and distribute meeting minutes.
  • Support compliance with EHS policies, procedures, regulations, and company standards.
  • Participate in facility inspections, assessments, and surveys to identify potential safety and environmental hazards.
  • Assist in the investigation of accidents, injuries, and near-miss incidents, including documentation and reporting requirements.
  • Maintain EHS records and files, including safety reports, permits, audits, and regulatory documentation.
  • Collect, analyze, and report data related to EHS performance metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Assist with the development, coordination, and delivery of EHS training programs.
  • Support the administration and continuous improvement of environmental, health, and safety programs across the facility.
  • Perform data entry, reporting, and analysis related to facility operations, compliance, and performance metrics.

Desired Background/Skills:

  • Associate’s degree in life sciences, environmental health and safety, environmental science, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify issues and recommend solutions.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills, along with strong interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Project.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and effectively prioritize tasks to meet established deadlines.

Physical Requirements

  • Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, talk, and hear while performing job duties.
  • Frequently exposed to manufacturing conditions including loud noise levels, odors, fumes, and fluctuating temperatures.
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 20 pounds.
  • Vision capabilities must include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus as needed.
  • Ability to work alternate shifts and varying days of the week, including weekends, based on business needs.
  • Ability to travel occasionally by air or automobile to attend business meetings, training sessions, and audit activities.
