Value Stream Supervisor – Welding & Grind/Polish – Sanford, ME – $70,000 – $85,000 per year
Full-Time | First Shift | Monday-Friday (6:50 AM – 3:10 PM)
We are seeking a hands-on Value Stream Supervisor to lead our Welding and Grind/Polish operations in Sanford, Maine. This leadership role is responsible for overseeing day-to-day production activities, developing team members, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and ensuring safety, quality, and productivity goals are achieved.
The ideal candidate combines strong manufacturing leadership experience with extensive TIG welding expertise and a passion for lean manufacturing and operational excellence. You are a visible, hands-on leader who thrives on developing teams and improving operations. You understand manufacturing processes, can effectively lead frontline employees, and enjoy identifying opportunities to increase efficiency while maintaining the highest standards for safety and quality

Responsibilities:

• Lead and supervise approximately 20 employees across Weld and Grind/Polish departments
• Coach, mentor, train, and develop team members
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives utilizing Lean manufacturing principles
• Monitor and improve production performance through KPIs and operational metrics
• Manage workforce scheduling and daily production activities
• Support safety, quality, inventory, and productivity objectives
• Reduce waste, scrap, and rework through process improvements
• Facilitate problem-solving and root cause analysis efforts
• Partner with cross-functional teams to achieve manufacturing goals
• Support capital projects and operational improvement programs
• Ensure compliance with company procedures and safety standards

Desired Background/Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent manufacturing experience
• Minimum 5 years of TIG welding experience
• Minimum 5 years of supervisory or leadership experience in a manufacturing environment
• Experience conducting performance reviews, coaching, and employee development
• Lean Manufacturing experience
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and basic computer applications
• Experience with 5S initiatives
• Inventory control and production planning experience
• Continuous Improvement leadership experience
• Knowledge of quality systems and manufacturing KPIs
